PREMIERES! and playlists, as promised. We hope everyone enjoyed the show! And if you missed part of it, treat yourself to the vids below. This year’s premieres and playlists are absolutely STELLAR.

Thank You's

We’d like to thank this year’s Premiere-vidders [personal profile] brainwane, [personal profile] seekingferret, [personal profile] garrideb, and [personal profile] starlady for their amazing vids. A big thank you to all of the vidders we screened! Thanks to playlist curators and those who participated in the Sing Along poll. Extra big thanks to our set-up and break-down helpers: [personal profile] prozacpark, [personal profile] runawaynun, [personal profile] meganbmoore and [personal profile] lyssie.

I would personally like to thank the Vid Party crew [personal profile] were_duck, [personal profile] futuransky, and [personal profile] sasha_feather, as well as [personal profile] chaila and [personal profile] cyborganize for behind-the-scenes collaboration and help. And finally, we’d like to give a special shoutout to our subtitle volunteers, [personal profile] violace and [personal profile] angelikitten. If you’re looking at those two names thinking, “this show is quite long, how was everything subtitled with the help of only two volunteers?” a big reason is [personal profile] angelikitten who subtitled HALF of this year’s programming.

Subtitles

Speaking of subtitles—although many vidders provide SRT files along with their vids for download, this has been a relatively recent development and is not yet common practice. We are including the SRT files used during Vid Party for download alongside each listing. For subtitles to appear while the vid plays, you will need to give both files identical names (keeping their respective file extension) and store both files in the same folder. We recommend VLC for playback, but particularly if you are watching with subtitles.

Please note: not all vids are available for download. And a select few are not available for streaming or download (as noted below). The majority of vidders provide download links, which can be found on their Dreamwidth or Livejournal vid posts linked below. Most vids that available as streaming-only can be downloaded with the help of a 3rd party browser add-on.

Download ALL subtitle files. ◦ Individual playlist collections available below.

And finally — If you enjoy Vid Party, if you love Vid Party, it’s because of the vidders. Please take a minute to leave comments, particularly for those premiering vids!

Hello Vid Fans!

In past years, Sing Along has been a playlist arranged by the Vid Party organizers. As you know, singing along to particular vids has become an expected and cherished tradition. And while we are still planning to mix things up a bit with new-to-Sing-Along vids, we don't want to miss out on your faves!

Vote for your favorite Vid Party Sing Along Classics! Suggest vids new to Sing Along!

Additionally, some folks have expressed an interest in a Sing Along playlist that occurs earlier in the evening, because: 1. early panels the next day, and 2. adulting often includes bedtimes. At the same time, some folks have requested multiple Sing Alongs!

Because Sing Along is so beloved, we wanted you to have the option to help shape this year's show. If all of these choices seem daunting or you'd rather be completely surprised, don't worry: we got this.

... now go vote!

P.S. subtitle volunteers needed!

Hey party people!

Getting excited for WisCon Vid Party? We're 10 days away! WOOOOOOOO!!!! We have some pretty spectacular Premieres and Playlists all queued and ready to go. We just have ONE. MORE. THING--

SUBTITLES! Subtitles mean that more folks can enjoy Vid Party. We really wanted to get as many vids subtitled this year as possible, and that means we need volunteers!

If you have never made a subtitle file before -- thats ok! We have a couple excellent tutorials on how to make SRT files (subtitles) that we can play along with each vid.

If you are willing to help make subtitles, please reply here with a good email to contact you (comments are screened) and I will send you a playlist to subtitle! Try subtitling one vid a day and we'll be all set for the party, a week from Saturday. We would prefer folks to sign on for a full playlist (4-7 vids), but if you can only take on 1,2 or 3, we'd still appreciate the help.

Thanks!

ETA: OK NOW COMMENTS ARE SCREENED. OOPS.

Playlists

We have the majority of our playlists! \o/ Thank you amazing playlist curators! We're suuuuper excited about this year's mix.

However, we don't have an AMV specific playlist and would love for someone to help us out. AMVs are an important part of remix culture and are a regular fan favorite at Vid Party. Remember playlists can be as few as 3 or as many as 7 vids long! We would love for someone to pull this together for us. Comment here or email vidparty [dot] wiscon [at] gmail [dot] com.

Premieres

By popular request, Premieres deadline is EXTENDED to 11:59pm PST, May 17th.
If you think you may need more time than this, you should email us (see above).

Playlist sign-ups are open!

We want as many people as possible to be involved in the programming for the party, and we prefer shorter blocks of programming rather than long vidshows. So, just like last year, we would like to invite you to curate a themed vid playlist (i.e. a short/mini vid show) that's 10-25 minutes in length, or 3-6ish vids long, to play at the party. Curators choose a theme and pick 3-6ish vids that fit the theme. If you're attending WisCon, you can introduce your playlist with a description of your theme (if you want!); if you aren't attending, you can write a little introduction and we will read it for you.

Here’s a list of playlists from previous years if you want to get an idea of how this has worked in the past.

For planning purposes, please let us know by commenting below or emailing vidparty.wiscon at gmail.com if you are planning to create a playlist.

More information on themes and curating )

We would like to gather playlists as soon as possible. Please get them to us by Friday May 1 at the latest! Email your playlist info to vidparty.wiscon at gmail.com.

Please note: this deadline is one week earlier than Premieres!

And once more, let us know in the comments below or by email if you are planning to curate a playlist!

Also feel free to comment below or contact us if you want to toss around potential ideas, suggest themes that other people might want to curate (if you don’t want to create the playlist yourself), or chat about vids that would be great to see at Wiscon!

Hey Party People -- it's that time again :D

Call for Premieres!

Once again, we are seeking your premiere vids! Each year we have some incredible submissions by experienced and newbie vidders. We would love to see your work at this year’s Vid Party!

We welcome all fanvids in all genres and from all traditions of fannish video production, so long as they have some connection to WisCon's focus on feminism and science fiction. WisCon defines feminism broadly, and we're interested in vids that engage with any aspect of gender, sexuality, race, disability, and/or class. We don’t want definitions to limit you; if you’re interested in WisCon’s themes and consider your vid to engage with these ideas, we’d love to have it at WisCon. We consider vid theme to be as relevant as source genre.

If you’re looking for inspiration, please check out last year’s fantastic premieres!
